Maria Ressa, you may chronicle a hostage taking, but don't air it when the hostage taker has access to the boob tube. As simple as that!

In the Makati seige, the media were requested to refrain from airing the movement of the troops, but they defied the orders of the police, to the prejudice of the operation. In the recent hostage taking, again the media got in the way. Maria Ressa in both occasions defended the profession where she belonged. In the Makati seige, she said that in no instance should the freedom to inform be curtailed. In the hostage taking she said, that by instinct, a mediaman would naturally chronicle an event of that nature. Record it, perhaps, but to air it the same time it is happening, to the advantage of the hostage taker??? Oh my... Yet, when Ted Failon's wife committed suicide, she was so visible, almost leading the network(ABS-CBN) in doing the "news blackout!" Whew!!!
